Others have  responded to this post with  many good ideas and theories
about what was going on. I'd like to add to the list:  breast
compression, as described by Dr. Jack, is a very good way  to keep baby
awake and suckling eagerly at the breast,  increase the baby's hindmilk
intake, and drain the breasts more efficiently.  If the mother uses
breast compression correctly and continuously throughout the feed, I
find that this can make a significant difference.
