My name is Laurena, a LLL Leader in BC, Canada.
I just received a call from an extremely dedicated mother nursing her 10
month old daughter with a SNS. She has a history of glandular problems,
sweat glands don't produce, nor do her tear ducts or saliva glands.
Since her daughter's birth she has tried many, things to increase her
milk supply: Domperridon, herbs, acupuncture. She expresses manually on a
daily basis and adds this to the formula in the SNS. If she nurses without
the SNS the baby will nurse for about 30 seconds and then come off screaming
and kicking.
I have dug up only two suggestion so far: (1.) Smaller tubes on SNS and
(2.) Switch sides after the 30 seconds that the baby will accept. I have
not yet posed these to the mom, and would not be surprised if she has
already tried these.
She has been researching on her own about the glandular link and would
like more references if possible. Please send any suggestions my way.
