>This is the very sad story of a 5 month old baby who received a

I have a client whose first child was almost a similar case. In her infancy
I saw dairy allergy symptoms and Mom went off dairy foods, with clear
improvement. But as the baby began eating solid foods, the Pediatrician
repeatedly urged her to feed the baby dairy food because after she weaned
from the breast she would *need* to consume milk products to be healthy. He
discredited my strong recommendation to Mom to continue avoiding dairy
foods. "This milk allergy thing is overdone."

Against her instincts Mom did feed baby cereal with cow's milk, followed by
an emergency trip to the hospital.

Then later in day care (at about 2 years) , where the danger was made clear
(this time by the doctor), someone gave the baby a piece of cheese and
there was a 911 (emergency rescue) ambulance trip to the hospital.

This baby was luckier than the one in the story. For some reason the
conventional medical community is reluctant to acknowledge the prevelance
of allergy. Even allergists will tell a mother that food allergies are very
rare and that the symptoms, that I have come to see as allergic reactions,
are not a reason to have the baby/child avoid any foods.

I wish that the story that Heather sent would make the US newspapers.

Thank you for sending the article, Heather.
