Dear Folks:
Another interesting part of this study is in the conclusion;"
Although the study does not allow a comparison of FHM with unfortified human
milk, the data suggest that the unique properties of human milk promote an
improved host defense and gastrointestinal function compared witht h feeding
of formula." This study is similar to other studies that find benefits to
partial breastfeeding when compared with exclusive formula feeding; leaving
out that infants fed exclusively human milk do the best.
Isn't the jury still out on fortification of human milk for some premature
infants? Warmly, Nikki Lee
