We've just completed a breastfeeding booklet that we give out to each of our
breastfeeding mothers and to those that attend our prenatal breastfeeding
class. It seems like it takes an act of congress to get anything approved.
Luckily for us, our patient education commitee knows little or nothing about
breastfeeding and was glad that we did the research. An added benefit is
that when they read this information, they will learn more about it.

It was a problem for us to try writing on a 6th grade level. Every time you
use a three syllable word it increases the grade level. It's hard to write
about BREASTFEEDING, ENGORGEMENT, MASTITIS, AND AREOLAS without using three
syllable words. We were able to convince them (the Patient Education
Commitee) that it could pass if we used the big word followed with a simple
explanation. Such as AREOLA (the dark part of the breast).

As far as LLL goes, I give out a separate sheet of paper listing the LLL
leaders and their numbers. So far no complaints.

Good Luck!
