a quick search on google scholar showed a bunch of articles from the mid-
90s on high manganese in soy formulas, but all I can find more recent than
that is this article:

Manganese Content of Soy or Rice Beverages is High in Comparison to Infant
Formulas
Kevin A. Cockell, PhD, Giuseppe Bonacci and Bartholomeus Belonje Journal of
the American College of Nutrition, Vol. 23, No. 2, 124-130 (2004)

They show that manganese is unacceptably high for infants in soy and rice
beverages intended for adults, but from what I gather in the abstract (have
to pay for full article) soy formula is much lower. Was the formulation
changed in the 90s to respond to the earlier publications?

Search http://scholar.google.com for "manganese" and "soy" for the 90s
article.
