I'll call this subject matter public receptivity since it's along the lines
of the dr. receptivity discusssions, but I'm not talking about a doctor.
Yesterday I was at a baby fair and a woman had a booth selling products that were
environmentally safe. Her big selling point to me was that the public needs to
be in tune with the various contaminants around us and who knows what other
pollutant we will later discover has impacted our children.

She proceeded to tell me that she had to wean her 6-1/2 month old twins due
to a dairy intolerance. And, she went on to tell me that she searched for the
formula with DHA....bingo! You know, I had to point to her product line on
her table and reel her in to her statements with "Now, wait a minute. You just
told me all about your products and the lack of awareness of the public in
terms of pollutants and contaminants. But, you just told me you looked for
formula with DHA? Why are you not concerned about this "new contaminant"?
Likewise, as you were telling me, we don't know what this DHA additive will bring in
terms of possible outcomes, do we?"

Of course, she responded by saying "why of course I wanted formula with DHA!
DHA facilitates vision and brain development in babies". And I further held
the conversation of DHA in breastmilk, but not this new stuff in formula.
Interesting, eh? The public simply believes the formula advertisements and the
doctors when told that xyz is best for their baby.
