< Today she went to mom's allergist and had
skin testing done...she is positive for beef, chicken, pork, fish,
shrimp,
potato's rice and apples. Not dairy.>

I remember one of the neonatologists or peds writing to LN once with the
statement that allergy testing on an infant is unreliable till after a
certain age. It has been my personal experience that there is a great
deal of difference in the way different MD's approach allergy testing.

One thing she could do immediately is knock off the rice cereal at 3
months of age.

<exhibiting upper
respiratory symptoms since 6 weeks of age.>

I have very little expertise in respiratory problems of babies. But I
vividly remember reading a wonderful post that Barbara Wilson-Clay sent
to LN on Sat, 31 Mar 2001 re: swallowing disorders. I have taken the
liberty of copying just a few short excerpts here:

< When babies present with wet, noisy
breathing (they are literally breathing through aspirated secretions) or
have frequent, severe respiratory problems, swallowing studies with
videofluoroscopic visualization can help identify what the problem is.>
< Breastmilk is clearly best for babies, but chronic
microaspiration even of breastmilk is not good for pulmonary status>

Before there is any consideration of sacrificing breastfeeding, perhaps a
second opinion might be in order. Perhaps there is no need for mom to get
into a tizzy about eliminating all those things from her diet because of
the supposed allergies of the baby. Maybe it's not even allergies.

Just playing the devil's advocate here.
