Yvonne,
This may be obvious, but has this mother tried breast compression? While
I realize an 8 week old can remove most of the milk in about 10 minutes, this
baby seems to spend vety little time on the first breast. Perhaps he is only
getting foremilk before switching sides. Also, he may well be getting nipple
confused from all of those bottles. If she insists on supplementing, have you
suggested a supplementer at the breast? As I have posted before, I do not
like using fenugreek by itself. I like it in combination w/ blessed thistle,
fennel, hops or nettles. There is a product like this at www.motherlove.com
that many mothers like. Also, using vitex can normalize hormonal function and
selenium, L-tyrosein and kelp are useful in normalizing thyroid function.
Perhaps she could work with a nutritionist or herbalist on this, if
necessary. But, it looks more to me like too many bottles, too much ABM and
perhaps poor feeding at the breast.
