HI Debbie,

I often use the words 'bunch of grapes' when I explain milksynthesis to a
mother.
The alveoli are the 'bunch' and one milk producing cell a single grape ( if
necessary referred to as a single milk factory but I don't really like to
use the word 'factory' in this context ;).

Imagine what happens when those myoepithelial cells contract (i.e. squeeze
the grape :). Here's your milk ejection reflex !

Furthermore I once read someone at Lactnet used a sponge with oil and water
to show the difference between fore- and hindmilk, if I recall correctly.
That was a great idea too!

If possible, please share all your replies with us. It would be great to
have a compilation of metaphores like this.
