Hi All,
I would appreciate a swift response on this one, thanks.
We have a baby born at 33 weeks but very small, ventilated, now 6 days
old. Mum has renal failure, controlled by drugs at present.

The NICU consultant is asking that Mums milk be frozen and the baby is
having donor milk. His concern is that Mums high blood creatine and urea
levels may increase the levels of these in her milk. I can find no
evidence to support this.

Wouldn't the milk cells control the levels, like they control for high
blood sugar levels in uncontrolled diabetics? On the other hand high
blood alcohol levels mean higher milk alcohlol levels for a while.
Mums drugs are O.K.
This consultant usually accepts what I suggest, but I would like your
thoughts before I stick my neck out!
Thanks,
--
