Epidural rates in our area are about 80-90%, if that low. They also represent
greater than 50% of anesthesiology income at one particular facility (just
from maternal-child and womens services). This could be reason Calif.
anesthesiologist is upset. Patients need to be provided with accurate
information which may also include data that involves potential
complications. When we discuss circs or other procedures with patients
(informed consents) we are responsible for truthfully informing them of the
potential risks involved.
