I have permission to post to the list, with this question.

Mother with a 5 month old, 17 lbs., has had 3 seizures this month. The
first two were in the same day so baby was taken to the hospital and put on
anti seizure meds, came home a week later, and stopped taking meds on
Tuesday had another seizure on Friday, so back on meds. Doctors are ruling
out neurological and epileptic problems but still checking.

Mom thinks this might have happened because she has been eating huge amounts
of seafood for her Atkins diet. She does not eat red meat or chicken so
eats A LOT (Her emphasis)of seafood. Also, the first two seizures happened
after spending one night, 2nd floor, in the OLD part of an old farmhouse
(still has lead paint) that they are remodeling. Varnished 4 weeks ago but
you can still smell it. Old wet basement, too. They aren't sleeping in that
part of the house now. He does get 4 ounces of Soy formula with 2 tsp. of
rice cereal at night but this is not new has been getting this for a couple
of months.

She thinks it could be in her milk because the seizures happened 10 to 20
minutes after breastfeeding.

She is thinking environmental or caused by her food through her milk, but
the doctors are rolling their eyes at her and telling her they don't think
so, but she is starting blood testing for mercury and any other contaminants
she can think of. I suggested allergies to seafood or the formula. She will
keep checking.

Any ideas on what might be causing seizures? I am checking the archives,
also, for seizures, Atkins diet, but maybe someone has some suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Cheryl Marian
