Upon reading many of the posts, I am surprised how often I find little
things that may point to the reason I have not been able to become pregnant
since my second miscarriage (at 17 weeks), in March of '97. The first being
in June of "96.

After my little girl was 'born' (deceased) the placenta didn't come right
away and the nurse paged the doctor who said he would be in as soon as
possible. 3 hours later he arrived and pushed, pulled and prodded until he
got it all out. Then he did what I assumed was a D&C while I was awake. He
took this long thing with a loop or something on the end and scraped and
scraped my uterus. Since then I haven't been able to become pregnant and
have kept in the back of my mind that he (the doc) scarred me or something.

Now I am noticing things in the posts here, my estrogen could be messed up
because I am 25-30 pounds heavier than I used to be(172), and that even
borderline thyroid problems could be causing it. I have asked him twice for
a thyroid workup but he always says that any symptoms I have given him
aren't enough to check, we wouldn't want to charge the insurance for
something needless.

I always think that if God wants me pregnant again then it will just happen,
but I am becoming more convinced now that I should, perhaps, check into the
causes a little further, by reading and questioning my doctor. He just
thinks I am getting older now (42) and I may not be ovulating enough. My
cycles are still normal. And, of course, I should get another doctor with
which to confer. (I am not a first time mom, I have 3 children, 15, 5 and
4).

Thank you for giving me some knowledge that might give me an answer.

Cheryl Marian, CLC, CLE
