I have recently started a new position at a children's hospital. I am
revisiting the EBM storge policy for our NICU. Does anyone have any data on
how long is appropiate storage time (refrig and/or freezer) for EBM for
premature and sick infants? What are the issues on milk stored after this
recommended time? Nutritional or bacterial? I have searched the archives
and cannot find anything referenced in the recent past. Most studies seem
to be close to 10 years old. Also, what is the recommendations on tube
feedings EBM? How long should it hang with continuous feeds? How frequently
should tubing and syringe be changed?
Thanks for your help.
