Now that I am in private practice and able to do more breastfeeding
management, I am about to start clipping tight frenulums.

I spent time on Friday discussing with a family the pros and cons of clipping
their newborn's frenulum. Mom is still having pain with latch at one month.
We had chatted previously about "the clip" but she was very reluctant. This
time dad came as well. I even had an in the waiting room chat with a very
nervous, assertive maternal grandmother. She was opposed to clipping.

The only thing keeping from clipping that day was the lack of sterile
instruments (we autoclave off site) and putting together an informational
consent form.

I'd like to know from other "clippers":

Do you use local anesthetic?
Do you dab with lidocaine with epi to reduce bleeding after clipping?
What kind of consent form do you use?

Thanks!
