I think the soothing nature of hydrogels and their potential to assist in
moist wound healing can be useful.  A caveat:  they should not be used on
infected issue. Says so on the packaging.  In my exper. many cracked nipples
have topical infection and don't heal until topical antibiotics are used. So
perhaps the hydrogels are a better choice after some gentle nipple cleansing
and a couple of days of topical tx.  Then the hydrogel can prevent painful
scabbing and to hasten the laying down of new cells.
