Am enjoying the concept of nipple tenderness vs "sore" nipples, as in nipple
wounds. Have an excellent article regarding hydrogel dressings for moist
wound healing. After reading the article, contacted the ostomy nurse in our
hospital, and she helped me find the correct product. Also heard Kathleen
Huggins discuss this concept at a conference in Scottsdale. Last year
implemented the use of hydrogel dressings when there is actual nipple
breakdown. We have had excellent results with our patients with this
intervention. We keep it refrigerated, as we find the coolness is what
feels good to these moms. In fact, one tearful mom told me "That stuff was
great!!! I think it is better than sex!"
