Hi All,
Did anyone catch Oprahs show today? It was about what happens to your body
after the baby is born.
Some of it was funny, humorous anecdotes to make post-pregnancy and
labor/delivery a bit lighter. Some of it horrible information, like Oprah
advocating women to have epidurals so they don't have to feel the pain, with
no mention of the effects on the baby, and some of the BF info was just as
bad. There was mention that pitocin causes uterine contractions and that it
can feel like an orgasm. BF was related to being an arousing activity
physically. There really was no mention of the emotional fulfillment of BF.
In fact, one of the guests said that BF starts out being very calming and
relaxing and so you sit there for 15 min and then 'that's enough of that'
let's get busy. The attitude wasn't very great for encouraging moms to BF,
IMHO. A comment was made that the breasts hurt up till the 6th wk! (???)

All in all it was a very irritating show. 2 years ago, I would have laughed
at all the dumb jokes about epidurals being great and having drugs during
labor being OK, and assumed that the BF info/stories were accurate and true.
However, knowing what I know now, I had a hard time watching the show and
not getting mad. I got very disgusted several times!

Who is re-writing her letter to Oprah to tell her how much damage she did
with this show!
