As far as my personal and professional experience goes, different-sized
breasts are no indication for bf-problems. I have very asymmetrical breasts
(more than 1 cupsize) and breastfed 5 children overabundantly and have seen
others do this as well. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen m,any women with
exact symmatrical breasts. I've often wondered (but not found the time to
research) wether there is a correlation with left- or right hadedness?
When I ask moms about breastchanges, I not only ask about size, but for
other chages as well, like the full or heavy feeling in the early days, often
even before the first missed menses, change in looks, like model, skincolour,
innervation getting more visible, etc., changes in model/colour of nipples
and areolae. These all are indicators that the breasts are being prepared for
lactation.
I've seen often that especially larger breasted woman do not see a volume
increase, but a texture change, like the fat is being replaced by growing
lobular and alveolar tissue.
By asking moms for all these other changes she will become more aware of her
body and the focus is less on what ''society'' focusses on: the size of a
womans' breasts. Being more aware is empowering because it gives one the idea
to be more in control of the situation.
