Dear Lactnetters,

I am especially interested in hearing from anyone who is a Visiting Nurse for
a Home Health agency who is an IBCLC also and provides lactation services as
part of her skilled nursing position. My supervisor met with the "Si....c"
person yesterday and was asked if our MCH nurses would like to give out the
little black cooler bag with formula sample, literature and cold packs enclosed.
Of course the company and product name are printed on the bag and contents.
I told her that I had no interest in being an unpaid marketer for the formula
industry and I felt that it would be in violation of the Code of Ethics for me
to hand out any of this stuff. The supervisor wants to discuss it with our
MCH team for their imput. Our agency is affiliated with the local hospital and
of course, the hospital receives formula and products and giveaways from the
formula industry. I highly doubt that it will ever be Baby Friendly for this
reason.

If any of you who are employed in such a capacity as I described, I would
love to hear from you. Please get in touch with me about any other aspects of
your practice offline.

Thank you all.
