Thanks to all who responded and emailed me privately about the baby who
"forgot" how to latch.  I spent an hour and a half with them Sunday
afternoon, and baby finally nursed at least 20 min. on each side with long
rhythmic patterns and some audible swallows.  I had them see the MD this
morning since the wgt was down to 7-12 from a birth wgt of 9-0.  Does
anyone have a commend on the peds instruction to "exercise" the nipples
using vaseline?? Parents ignored this advice, but I'm not sure if I need to
follow the incident up in some way.  I don't think I'd get anywhere talking
to this MD.
