Hey all- I haven't been reading lactnet lately- I was feeling
discouraged about ever actually being able to do anything with
lactation- but then decided to apply to the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center Physician Assistant program and feel there may
be a future for me in this area.

As part of preparation, I'm taking Human Anatomy this summer - in all
of 5 weeks, so it's just zooming by! The instructor is quite open to
discussions from students involving their passions, their
interpretations, their knowledge so of course I've been talking to him
about breastfeeding (that it's a mother/baby anatomy issue, not just
mother), normal birth process, etc. He has Raynaud's so I wanted to
provide more information on dealing with Raynaud's in lactation-
beyond what "breastfeeding for the Medical Profession" provides. I
loaned him my copy but it was less than a page.

We only briefly covered the endocrine system - mostly the anatomy and
very briefly the hormones and target organs, but I would like to offer
more than a summary on CCK to him. I gave him a quick rundown on it's
release in the nursing dyad and the effects on mother and baby- and
why it's important in the age of Ezzo, etc.

If anyone has any handy references or citations on Raynaud's and CCK
and their relationship to breastfeeding, I would love to see them. I
know if I go off on a literature search I'll get distracted and not be
ready for Thursday's lab practical and the final on Friday. Also
some quick stuff on oxytocin- bonding, upregulation of receptors due
to perineal stretching, lactogenesis....

If you cc me I would be appreciative- again to prevent the distraction
of finding so much else I want to spend time with, and not getting the
studying done! If I reply to a message I can cc the list, unless you
ask me not to- so that we all get to see the information instead of
having it go into the void of private email only.

Oh- and I hope you're all well and that I can get back to "see" you
all again soon!
