In my *spare* time, I enjoy taking pictures of my two boys and I have gotten
involved in acid-free scrapbooking. It has been quite a challenge getting
someone else in my family to take photos of me nursing. At first I was shy
to ask, then we had to get over friends and family being intimidated. I
don't have too many pictures of William as a baby, nursing, but since Scott
was born I have accumulated many pictures of each of them and both of them
tandem nursing. When my husband first took tandem pictures, he was
questioning who was going to develop them for me. I took them to my usual
one hour spot. When I picked them up the woman was so excited to tell me she
tandem nursed for two years. I have always seemed to find support in the
right places.

Now that I have all these photos of me nursing, It has taken along time for
me to decide how to display them in my album. Surprisingly, it is not my
chest that seems offensive. Most pictures I am very relaxed in PJs, my
thighs hang out, my hair is still wet. Not exactly the typical things one
would choose to put in a portrait or family album. As I cropped and
overlapped photos on a two page spread I was very pleased to see how
meaningful this pages will look. As soon as I get my copy of nursing poems I
am going to add a poem and some personal journalizing to the page.

I have introduced some of the mothers in my office to scrapbooking. Most of
them nursed their now adult children. One of the mothers who is a big bf
advocate surprised me with the first page had a photo of her son fed from a
bottle by the 3 year old sister. What I loved was the story she wrote under
the photo."big sis couldn't wait to do her share and feed the baby a bottle.
Baby took a couple of sucks and cried and was put to moms breast. Sis got
her baby doll and started bf her every time baby brother nursed." I happened
to think this was a really good way to deal with photos that are precious,
but communicate messages that over the years we don't want passed down to
our children and grandchildren.

Does anyone else have any stories to share about bf in their photos?

Tandem nursing mother to William (36mo) and Scott (14mo).I have also been
reading the archives on tandem nursing and realize how little has been said
about tandem nursing on lactnet beyond the newborn period. Perhaps because
the oldest weans quickly or nurses infrequently. I have a lot of pride in
sticking it out this long with no end in sight. I am very happy I can
preserve my memories in my family album.
