>The question: should mom throw out the breastmilk after it has been
heated, can it be kept at room temp or put back in fridge?<

Brenda,
Any time human milk is heated, some of the immunological properties,
vitamins, especially C, can be slightly decreased, depending on temperature
of heat and how long she warms/heats it for. It will also depend on if it
is fresh vs frozen. As long as it is breastmilk, it is still better than
the best formula. There is no reason she could not put it back in the
fridge and give it to the baby again. I would not let this become a habit
because we try to give the babies the breastmilk with the maximum amount of
nutritional value.
