The example below of Teresa's daughter reminds me of the old vs new weight
charts and of our "common" advice that baby should double birth weight by
4-6 mos and triple by a year. Maybe that is also based primarily on formula
fed babies. I have seen many breast-only babies double by 4 mos, but we may
need to rethink the "triple by a year" portion. From many posts on L'net
over the years, it is clear that a great many breastfed babies are not
reaching the "triple by a year" milestone. Perhaps because it's not
"normal"?

Admittedly, I have not reviewed the new charts based on BMI to see if the
numbers still match the "double-triple" theory or if they point to a
different conclusion of normal weight gain by a year.

Does anyone familiar with the new growth charts have observations on this?

Thanks.
Phyllis
