Slightly off topic:

This region has been affected for days by the low-pressure system that was
formerly Cyclone Oswald, as it has moved slowly down the east coast. The
super storm has affected a huge area of Queensland and the effects have also
moved south into New South Wales as well. There are high winds in most areas
affected and major flooding in some areas. So my thoughts are with any
Lactnetters who are affected. About 202,000 households in south-east
Queensland are withouot electric power, and some areas have no mobile phone
(cell phone) connectivity because of a string of tornados in the
Bundaberg-Hervey Bay area. In the northern half of he state, both landline
phone and mobile phone networds are not working because of damage to a major
line.

Now to my point: The ABC Local Radio is each area, set up as a national
disaster network, is working well at providing 24-hour coverage and
providing advice and messages. If you anywhere in Australia and are facing a
weather event, do remember to let the mothers you work with know that this
network will always be on air - and to be sure to have a battery-operated
radio and spare batteries.

I heard a lovely conversation on the ABC Local Radio a day or so ago. A
young woman rang the station from a very small town, where food and other
supplies were running low, though all the locals were being neighbouly and
sharing with each other. She mentioned that she had a 14-week-old baby and
was almost out of nappies (diapers). The radio announcer thought that meant
that she needed baby food and nappies, as well as food. No, she told him,
"I'm breastfeeding and so I don't need baby food". It was good to hear her
making this point, not assertively, just as a matter of fact.
