I would appreciate comments in regard to the health of a 4month old.
Mother is breastfeeding, she has had a kidney transplant and is on
prednisone and Imuran. They have been monitoring baby's blood. Just
recently the results are showing normal WBC but the lymphocytes have
decreased. The physician is concerned about this of course and is
suggesting the mother wean. At what point does the low blood count become
a concern to wean vs. the protective effect of breastfeeding. Mother did
have some problem in the past with low milk supply and had supplemented
with formula, this didn't agree with baby. Mother really wants to
breastfeed.
