Her problem is that she has

I have seen this problem often. Her husband may or may not have yeast
overgrowth, but semen changes the ph of the vagina, and the mom's unresolved
yeast imbalance can flare up after intercourse. If she restored her healthy
balance of yeast/bacteria then there would most likely not be a recurrence
of the yeast ovegrowth.

The diflucan is a start and, of course, she doesn't have to stop
breastfeeding. But she needs to recolonize her GI track and vagina with
healthy bacteria and boost her immune system to halt the recurrence.

Acidophilus, garlic, B vitamins, low sugar intake, dairy elimination,
letting her chlorine-treated water sit overnight, etc. will help restore
proper balance.

There are supporitories or douches that she could use after intercourse and
*before* the yeast gets ahead.

The book, A Woman's Guide to Yeast Infections, by Naomi Baumslag and Dia
Michels would be most helpful to her.
