Mom went to get ultrasound - results are normal, no retained placenta.
Ovaries are normal, no cysts that might have been producing hormones.

She has given me access to her OB history (and permission to post here, of
course) in case it helps. Her child was conceived by IVF after ovarian
stimulation (history does not state the primary cause of infertility;
mother says she had "low ovarian reserve"). Child was having a retarded
uterine growth. Mother had a premature birth with severe preemclampsia (not
full blown eclampsia though). Did not see her child till 48 hours after
birth. Started infrequently stimulating breast 3 days after birth.

I asked her to visit her endocrinologist with the hormonal results, and
also printed all the studies and information we have shared here.

Lisa, the article in Spanish you sent is very interesting (BTW if you had
to keep track of what language each person in Lactnet speaks, you´d go
nuts). I read it over quickly, but it does not relate the levels of
hormones (PRL and E) with milk output. However, if I compare the levels of
estrogen my client has with the levels of estrogens in the normal
breastfeeding mothers of the study, theirs are *higher* than my client´s
and higher than in other studies... What a mystery. Anyway I hope this
weekend to take some time off from everything else and work on this case
full time.

As for the mom, she is deeply grateful for our support (she bids me thank
you all for your help). She is a fighter.

Hugs,
Kika
