I'm sorry if this is the second post I havesent. I think the first didn't "take". I am working with a primip, mother of a 5 week old girl. Mother is exclusively breastfeeding and has still got pretty sore looking nipples, she describes pain x every latch. The baby is gaining weight, although not extremely well. The baby does seem t o have a high bubble palate, but not a tongue tie. We have worked on positioning, wide open latch, I have examined the baby's mouth several times as has a colleague, LC, of mine. We do not think the baby's frenulum is unusually short or tight. But this mother continues to have pain and nipples are red and abraded. On friday she was dx with mastitis by the Midwife I sent her to. Any ideas?
