not a  "real" (official registered medical) profession, it is seen as 
"alternative  treatment", like homeopathy for instance.


~~ Re: Breastfeeding being seen as alternative...The way I read this it is  
not breastfeeding which is seen as "alternative" but the use of a 
healthcare  provider to get the support for babies and mothers, which is the 
alternative to  working with a non-medical personnel kind of person.
