Help please!

Lactoferrin: we're a bit fuzzy about the connection between lactoferrin and
bioavailability of iron for the baby. Is lactoferrin only anti-infective?
Where does exogenous iron come from if the baby is exclusively breastfed?
How does the baby get the iron it needs from the endogenous iron and what
happens to the rest? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Breast shells: the use of shells is referred to in "Riordan & Auerbach" and
the "Answer Book" (all I have). Have these shells been SHOWN to break down
adhesions? I understand from "Effective Care" that the use of antenatal
devices doesn't help prepare the nipples. What is the latest please? My
colleague insists that the shells help - if something works, that's fine by
me, but I wondered what the official stance is (if any).

Best wishes to anyone else writing this year.
