Regarding Dr. Lawrence's comments:

"Physicians are so used to dispensing prenatal vitamins that they don't realize the problem in giving out free formula. Formula companies come to your office because pediatricians, as a group, have refused to promote formula and don't have formula promotional material in their offices."

Would someone please tell me then why PREP which is the primary educational forum for the AAP is sponsored by Ross and why the formula companies are front and center on AAP internet connections such as Medem??

I am sure that I am not the only pediatrician in the country who actively refuses to have formula or formula-company written material in my office but the amount of fighting and refusing which I have had to do leads me to suspect that the pediatric community as a whole are in NO WAY refusing to have these products in their offices. Certainly, every other office I have ever been in has had formula company information and formula. Maybe things have changed dramatically since I have had my head buried up here in Northern Michigan snow (but I am skeptical!!)

Just my 2 cents.
