So this is an implicit plea for early clipping, Gonneke, if I understand
well...?
No waiting, just clipping as soon as the diagnosis is made and allow the
infant to develop good sucking habits while feeding from the beginning...?
Still some unlearning may have to be done (from intrauterine habituation),
but at least feeding will progress more efficiently?

Bye,

Marianne Vanderveen IBCLC, Netherlands

At the ABM conference in Poland last March I heard Dr. Mexi Bourna MD,
Greece, speak about TT. She explained that when clipping is postponed, even
only a couple of weeks, the child can have built up muscle memory already
and still use the wrong techniques after clipping. This may pesist for quie
some time and may need additional therapy.

Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC in PP, LClecturer in southern Netherlands
