Has she considered an IUD? While it cannot be inserted until the uterus
has involuted, it is 99.9% effective for 10 years without interfering with
lactation. If she is reluctant because of the Dalkon Shield, etc., this
is a new generation of IUDs that are much, much safer. Please note that I
was very skeptical about IUDS when my doctor recommended one after Trevor,
but after alot of discussion with him and some research, I opted for one
after my 6th child. It's been nearly 2 years since I got mine and I
haven't had any problems. I was on the pill for some 18 years off and on,
and the IUD is certainly more convenient than condoms, diaphragms (I was
lazy - which is why we have 6 kids) and more reliable since even the best
of us occasionally forgets to take a pill or is on antibiotics.
