corrine said, in part: I wonder if mothers can have
their own quiet revolution by
giving
away their own milk through some breastfeeding forum?

-snip-
Question... If mothers in your circle of influence
decide on their own
to
nurse each others babies or share frozen breastmilk,
do you; -snip- dire warnings and scare tactics, or
give cheerful enthusiastic support?

----------

if you check into some adoptive nursing bb on the web,
you will find women offering to donate their milk to
adoptive mothers trying to (re)lactate for their
babies. I pump to donate for a friend who had very
little milk twice, just had her baby two days ago- and
each time I put the bag in the freezer I hope she
doesnt' need to use it. (and I just sent her the link
from medscape that was posted) I really hope to be
looking for another recipient for my milk soon- and I
have *gallons* stored in various friends' freezers. I
even looked at Rachel Myr's freezer and thought "oh,
good, here's another freezer for me to store my milk
in!". Then I realised she lives in Norway. :-)

I applaud women who are sharing nursing. I would do
it and might, for the aforementioned friend. I've
known several who do.

I think the woman in the mother's nature auction has
no idea about the legality. she is probably trying to
re-coup some money for some reason- she is also
auctioning Enfamil nursettes.
