Fiona, you've added some good detail. One correction--- it is estrogen that
tends to be very high, and progesterone that is very low or non-existent,
that latter due to the lack of a corpus luteum to produce it, and that
because of anovulation. Infertility is certainly a hallmark, and the rate of
miscarriages is higher, too, possibly due again to progesterone deficiency.

As you commented, Fiona, I believe that there is potential for disruption of
breast tissue development, though I can't say that for certain. I also see
potential for disruption of galactopoeisis, and I really wish we could get
an endocrinologist to scrutinize these issues with an eye for lactation
problems!
