Pam,

This family is so lucky to have someone so sensitive as you are to be
helping them. Not just for the knowledge and judgement about how much
milk to give and how to give it, but for understanding how they must be
grieving for the perfect child of their dreams and the future they would
have had together.

And for understanding how helpless they feel about their situation, and
for knowing that providing the breast milk is at least one superbly
healthy thing they can do for their child that no one else in the world
can do.

I feel sure your support in this has to be a help with the mountain of
grief work they have to do, and will have to do for the rest of their
lives.

For their sake, I hope the report of the baby elsewhere who was
handicapped similarly and with reconstructive surgery is now able to
grasp with the hands and walk with prostheses can be echoed in the life
of this little one. The breast milk will have helped, one way or another.

This will be a long haul. I am glad you are there for them. Take good
care of yourself. It must be heartbreaking in a way for you too.

Jean
