I just gave a lecture at our annual symposium. One of my topics was on
medications and mother's milk, and I pointed out some of the common assumptions
vs research that LC's face.....namely pediatricians who refuse to order
nystatin for babies (whose mother's have thrush of the nipples) because the
pediatrician states the baby does not have any symptoms.

Sure enough, a pediatrician in the audience challenged me and stated he
refuses to give nystatin to asymptomatic babies because "we all have yeast". I
listened politely and then stood my ground, stating that research supports
both mother and baby being treated, eventhough only one has symptoms. Of
course, I used the latest work by Kay Hoover as one of my resources.

He went to my boss and demands to see MORE research, stating Kay Hoover is
not objective and not even a nurse. (Oh brother... give me a break!)

So, Dr. Newman or Dr. Wight, if you are out there and know of any research
(especially done by doctor), that I can give to this pediatrician to shut him
up, I would appreciate a private email....or anyone else who can shed some
light....

Thanks in advance.
