After searching the archives for the past hour with no success, I have a
question for all the "Great minds" on LACTNET. I'm posting this for a
fellow LC who's not on-line so I don't have the complete history but she
asked me to check with you. She received a call yesterday about a baby
who had an episode of vomiting blood, apparently a large amount. Infant
is very healthy, with no problems until now. Mother has no obvious open
areas on her nipples and denies pain etc. The mother and baby spent
more than 12 hours at a local Childrens Hospital where they did not find
anything wrong. Mom is going for a checkup in the morning to her OB/Gyn
to have him check her breasts. Infant is continuing to breastfeed at
this time with no more bleeding noted. The blood the infant vomited was
not saved for testing to determine who's blood it was, mom's or baby's.
Any suggestions on what may be going on??
