Dear Eszter,

Joan Fisher in Canada became quite an expert in 'breastfeeding colitis'
because people knew she was interested and referred many moms to her. I
did a 'Google' search on her name plus 'breastfeeding' and found this
site where one can purchase an audiotape of a presentation of hers. Our
Canadian Lactnetters may know how to get in touch with her.

In addition to eliminating bovine foods and reducing oversupply, the
other management techniques I remember from a tape of Joan's that I once
heard were a) balancing foremilk and hindmilk--which does often happen
when you reduce oversupply, and b) giving the baby drops which are sold
for lactose-intolerant people to mix with cows' milk. In this country
they are sold under the name "Lact-aid," I believe, and I think they
contain enzymes to break down the lactose in the milk. Joan tells of
working with some mothers through more than one nursing experience, as
the problem tends to repeat itself with later siblings in the family.
The mother used trial-and-error to figure how many drops to give the
baby before nursing.

I hope other people will also contribute their suggestions.
