And even if I would have... when pediatric concerns have been ruled out, I
think that very often parental issues *will* have a stress effect on a
child. This is not to blame the parents, but it is so necessary to *first*
find out where the problem is and *then* solve it where it is! I can't heal
*your* broken leg by plastering *mine*! :o))
Many of us have grown up insecurely attached, which has made us grow into
adults that do not always know how to deal with demanding situations such as
having a newborn. That's not blaming; that's analyzing facts and causes;
that's diagnosing in order to pick the right treatment. I fail to understand
why parents would not welcome the attention for their own *needs*!!
If you enrich a field, the crop will be more healthy and more abundant. That
is how I see interaction in the parent/infant-dyad. We as parents need to be
'fertile' in order to stimulate optimal development in our children. It
breaks my heart, to see these stupid guidelines getting so much attention,
by HCP's and parents the like. I've been crying several times the last few
days, for sheer powerlessness of getting the message across that is out
there in so many different forms: infants and children need a safe
environment to be able to grow into stable adults and it is up to us to
provide them with that environment.
Thanks to all of you, who have given me good ideas so far. I'm working my
but off and reading all day, to get a grip on the whole issue and find the
ultimate strategy to deal with this situation.
Anymore *big* publications and *great* names that can impress our
governmental institute, are welcomed with open arms...
