Some things I have been thinking about recently are:

It used to be (long ago) that HCPs never washed their hands. When they
did start to do so many said it would cause their patients to feel bad
about themselves or *guilty* about being dirty. I've noticed similar
sentiments about BFing vs. FFing. We all know hand washing and BFing
are both important.

When someone can't adequately discount the issue they often turn to
discounting or attacking the person.

When I am working with a mother I try to remember to ask her what
outcomes she wants and why. It may just be that she doesn't value BFing
the way I do. If that is the case then I see it as my job to help get
her to where she does want to be - with a little BFing info slipped in
on the sides if she is really adverse to BFing. Who knows, she may say
the small thing that makes the small difference someone else down the
line needs to make BFing their choice.
