No, we disagree. The body charged by the international community with
monitoring and interpreting the Code, has deemed that a company like
Lansinoh which is a wholly owned subsidiary of a company that breaches the
Code (in particularly nasty ways in Asia), should be treated as if they were
breaching the Code themselves. If ILCA says that they have no problem with
Lansinoh then they are going against the opinion of the experts on the Code.
This is particularly difficult to understand given that Pigeon have been
quite open about why they purchased Lansinoh, to market their products to
the breastfeeding community in a way that they couldn’t do before.

And I would point out that I’ve given my own organisation, the Australian
Breastfeeding Assoc, stick over the same issue with Lansinoh, so I’m not
picking on ILCA in particular.

I think we are still in agreement Karleen. ILCA is a specialist at
conducting its conference, including operation of its Code-compliant Exhibit
Hall in accordance with its by-laws, and the state- or federal laws -- every
letter of them -- that we must follow.

And Amy -- I agree with you that BF organizations around the world should
demonstrate support for the WHO Code in a meaningful way. That is why ILCA
embodied support for the Int'l Code in its by-laws way back in 1985. ILCA
actually goes beyond what the Int'l Code requires: we accept no monies from
companies that are not meeting their obligations under the Code, when even
the Code permits its violators to exhibit (using scientific facts and
information only, please) at educational conferences such as ILCA's.
