The discussion about whether whole cows milk can substitute for formula for
older babies has focused on nutrition -- that is, which gives babies more of
the good stuff, relatively.
However, I recall my pediatrician prefering that small supplements -- eg, to
mix into that nasty rice cereal -- were if not bm then formula until closer
to a year -- around 10 mos or so maybe? -- and only then whole milk, and my
general recollection was that she implied that straight cows milk was more
allergenic than cows-milk based formula.
Anyone know anything scientific that would confirm or disprove this? It made
more sense to me then than it does now...
