Hi! My name is Yael Wyshogrod and I live in Rehovot, Israel. I am a
physical therapist, childbirth educator, LLLL on reserve, and BSC
student LC. I am the mother of Ruthie (7), Avri (5), and Adi (15 mo.).

I'd like to share a situation thats been puzzling to me:
A friend of mine (who is an MD and very pro bf) told me that when her
first son breastfed she never seemed to have enough milk, and although
she was doing "all the right things" (including seing at least one or
two LC's), the baby did not gain well and she ended up supplementaing
using an SNS, and weaning at about 6 months (largely because she hated
using the SNS). When her second son was born, the situation repeated
itself, but this time she saw a different LC who told her that her that
she cannot produce enogh milk because her "milk sinuses are too deep".
She was happy to get a "diagnosis" that explained why she didn"t
produce enough milk, and she happily breastfed and supplemented with
bottles of formula for over a year. (I met her a couple of years after
all this). My question is: I have not heard of this before, I have not
found any references about it, and I would love to hear if anyone has
any refences and/or experience with this problem.
Thanks!
Yael Wyshogrod
