We too were surprised by how receptive our staff were to breastfeeding
education. We started out with a "mandatory" inservice and hard quite a bit
of fussing, but after the class, we got great reviews and many said they
learned a great deal. We occassionally still fight the battle of "it's going
to hurt for a while."  It breaks my heart to hear a woman say she decided
not to nurse because "someone" said it was very painful.
