Listmates,
Here is an update on my research study of nurses' actions to enhance
mothers' labors (help her cope with labor and make progress in labor). As
of today, I have mailed out about 200 questionnaires and received about 75
back. I have over 100 internet responses to the web version of the
questionnaire. L&D nurses from as far away as Australia, Europe, and all
over North America have participated. Some of you on this list have
participated or have told others about the questionnaire (I think more of
the international responses have come from you spreading the word!) Thank
you very much for your support!
However, I NEED MORE RESPONSES! If you know anyone who might be
interested in participating, I can mail as many questionnaires as needed
(with self addressed stamped envelopes). Please help pass the word about
this research study and the internet address to the web version.

The responses and comments are anonymous and confidential. The web
version sends the responses directly to a database and the comments are
emailed to me with no address. So if you have questions, please email me
directly because I cannot answer any questions you pose in the comments as
there is no address for me to respond to!
I plan to wind down the study in December, so I will probably only mail
out questionnaires for about another week. I will probably continue the web
version until the first week or so of December. (Sad, but I plan to spend
the Christmas holiday analyzing results and beginning to write them up!).
Many of you have expressed an interest in the results of this study. I
plan to post a summary of the results to this list and hope to present my
findings at the AWHONN (Association of Women's Health Obstetrics and
Neonatal Nursing) conference in June. I will also plan to publish them in a
nursing journal.
Thanks again for your incredible support!
