Just seconding Jean Ridler's recommendation of the Danish video on hand
expression from the Breastfeeding Committee in Denmark
(www.ammekomiteen.dk).
I've seen this video numerous times, only with the Danish commentary, but I
assume it is available with either subtitles or dubbing. Even with no
understandable verbiage, the cinematography is stunning. The entire screen
is taken up with a large, soft maternal breast that is spraying milk by the
end of the film, which is only a few minutes long. The commentary is given
by a woman with a very soothing voice, speaking slowly and calmly, while the
technique is shown.
A nurse in our NICU shows this film at her fortnightly group on the ward,
for parents of premies who are needing to express long-term. Granted, this
is a Norwegian audience so breasts, and especially nipples, are not
provocative in and of themselves in the way they are in the US or even
Britain. But she likes the video because it is an ice breaker, and because
the image of this very giving breast is so overwhelming.
